Faith Evangelical Lutheran Endowment Fund
The Faith Evangelical Lutheran Endowment Fund was organized May 3, 1989, to provide a living fund for the purpose of supporting the mission and program of Faith Lutheran as a congregation in Pierre. Its basic idea is to hold gifts in perpetuity, with only the interest from such gifts being used for the various programs and needs of Faith Lutheran. Gifts may be given for specific purposes or may be made without specific designation.
The Endowment Fund was established by Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1989 under the laws of the State of South Dakota. The Board of Directors shall consist of a minimum of 5 members of the Board of Stewardship and the President of the Congregation of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church.
In December, 1989, the Endowment Fund received its tax exempt status and began functioning as a non-profit corporation organized for religious purposes.
To start the endowment, a substantial gift was given to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church. Since then many gifts have been given. Only the interest from this Endowment Fund will be spent. The first 15% will be given to support the missions of the South Dakota District and Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. In December of 1991 the congregation authorized that the Educational Endowment Fund be placed into the Endowment Fund and that the next 15% of interest also be given to and shared by students studying for professional church work.
The Endowment Fund Board solicits ideas from the congregation each fall for expenditure of the interest from the fund. The Board then decides how the interest should be expended and shares their decisions at the December Voters Meeting. Now as the Fund grows, the Lord’s work can continue even after God has given us the glories of heaven.
