Bible Studies

Our 2019-2020 Bible Study opportunities are listed below.  Please join one or many.

For more info, call 224-2216.

(Adults) – Defending the Faith – Attacks on your Christian faith are often subtle and implied. Ideas like evolution and gender identity are taken as standard and often undebated. Pastor Rajek will lead a study
that examines these issues in light of God’s Word. He will reveal what God says about these attacking
ideas and equip you to say what Christians do believe about these issues. Begins Sept 8 at 9:45AM.

(Adults) – Prayer – What is prayer, and how should you pray? Prayer is common to the Christian but it can also be intimidating.  Marvin Schweigert leads a study centered on this pillar of the Christian life. It will begin on Sept 15, at 6:30PM in the Living Room.

(Men) – Men’s Fellowship – The men of the congregation are invited to a time of fellowship and games on the first Monday of the month (will meet Sept 9 due to Labor Day). They begin with a devotion and then enjoy food and conversation with an activity (usually dartball). For any questions please contact John Barber, 220-2660.

(Adults) – Boundaries – Your schedule is overfilled with activities and demands on your time. Vona Johnson will lead a group in discovering how God desires to free you from busyness and focus on fulfilling His design for your life. Organizational meeting September 16 at 6:30PM.

(Women) – Perseverance: Praying through Life’s Challenges – Led by Karen Lindbloom, this study focuses on Nehemiah.  He may not be the first Biblical example that comes to mind when talking about perseverance, but his life sets a standard of helpful steps that you can apply on “the one thing journey” that’s keeping everyone from a fuller life. Study begins Sept . 24 at 10AM.

(Adults) – Vocation – How do we serve God? And how do we serve others? The two are not so different. David Zuercher will lead a study that reveals how God has equipped and positioned you to serve him and others in your daily life. This study will meet at 6:30PM and rotates locations to various participant’s houses. Contact David for starting home: 222-8424. Study begins September 11 at the Zuercher home, 104 Lee Hill Road, Pierre.

(High school students) – Lutheran Y outh Fellowship (LY F) – All high school students (and courageous 8th graders) are invited to LYF each Wednesday at 8PM. We join together for an activity and devotion. This time is for developing and strengthening friendships with other Christian youth in town as well as deepening your love for Jesus and developing your identity in Him. You are encouraged to invite friends too. Please text Mike Shoup (295-2234) to be added onto the text group.

(Adults) – 12 False Christs – Who is Jesus? This may sound like a silly question, but many people have different, even conflicting, opinions. Based on the book Will the Real Jesus Please Stand Up by Rev. Matt Richard, Dennis Ryckman will show these differing opinions, comparing them to God’s own description of Jesus drawn from God’s Word. Classes begin at 6:30PM - 7:30PM. Bring your kids for Midweek and stay and be enriched yourself. Show your children that the study of God’s Word is important to you and for you as well as them.
