Sunday Morning Worship - 11/19/2017
Saturday, November 18, 2017
The darkening days of the world are a time for God’s people to be looking toward the light—the light of Christ. Through our worship, we call out to our gracious God to brighten our lives as only He can. With the psalmist we call out, “Satisfy us in the morning with Your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days” (Psalm 90:14). God promises to satisfy us not only for our earthly lives but eternally as well. Looking toward that time of great surprise with confidence and hope, we say with the psalmist, “Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us” (Psalm 90:17a), and we respond to that favor with our heartfelt praise.
Preaching this morning is Reverend Farrukh Khan, Director of Development, has been serving with POBLO for 20 years. Originally from Pakistan, Rev. F. Khan comes from a family that converted from Islam to Christianity and raised in the Christian faith. After spending 17 years in Saudi Arabia as an engineer for a Texas-based multinational corporation, where he also worshipped in the Lutheran Church, Rev. F. Khan was called to work as a missionary for POBLO in Toronto, Canada. While there, he helped to plant All Nations Lutheran Church, a primarily Pakistani and Indian congregation. He is a graduate of Concordia Seminary’s Ethnic Immigrant Institute of Theology. He has also received church planting training through the Center for U.S. Missions. Since joining POBLO, Rev. Khan has planted new churches and trained existing churches on how to effectively engage in outreach to Muslims and other unreached people groups. Rev. Cory Rajek, our Senior Pastor, is our Liturgist.
Please join us for Sunday worship at 8:20 AM or 11:00 AM. Pastor Farrukh Khan's message is titled “Fishers of Men” based on Matthew 4:19-20.
