Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017 Sermon by Guest Rev. Farrukh Khan with POBLO
Categories: SermonsSaturday, November 18, 2017
The darkening days of the world are a time for God’s people to be looking toward the light—the light of Christ. Through our worship, we call out to our gracious God to brighten our lives as only He can. With the psalmist we call out, “Satisfy us in the morning with Your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days” (Psalm 90:14). God promises to satisfy us not only for our earthly lives but eternally as well. Looking toward that time of great surprise with confidence and hope, we say with the psalmist, “Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us” (Psalm 90:17a), and we respond to that favor with our heartfelt praise.
Preaching this morning is Reverend Farrukh Khan, Director of Development, has been serving with POBLO for 20 years. Originally from Pakistan, Rev. F. Khan comes from a family that converted from Islam to Christianity and raised in the Christian faith. After spending 17 years in Saudi Arabia as an engineer for a Texas-based multinational corporation, where he also worshipped in the Lutheran Church, Rev. F. Khan was called to work as a missionary for POBLO in Toronto, Canada. While there, he helped to plant All Nations Lutheran Church, a primarily Pakistani and Indian congregation. He is a graduate of Concordia Seminary’s Ethnic Immigrant Institute of Theology. He has also received church planting training through the Center for U.S. Missions. Since joining POBLO, Rev. Khan has planted new churches and trained existing churches on how to effectively engage in outreach to Muslims and other unreached people groups. Rev. Cory Rajek, our Senior Pastor, is our Liturgist.
Please join us for Sunday worship at 8:20 AM or 11:00 AM. Pastor Farrukh Khan's message is titled “Fishers of Men” based on Matthew 4:19-20.

Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017 Sermon by Pastor Joshua Baumann
Categories: SermonsSaturday, November 11, 2017
The final three weeks of the Church Year are traditionally concerned with “the last things.” The lessons of the Church bring a special opportunity to reflect on the end of time and on the end of our earthly lives. In the Apostles’ Creed, we affirm our belief in the resurrection of the body, which is God’s good but temporary gift to us while we are living on earth. With all who have died in the faith before us, we await the coming of the Lord. Paul writes, “We shall all be changed.” Our faithful worship helps us prepare for that glorious event!
Please join us for Sunday worship at 8:20 AM or 11:00 AM. Pastor Joshua Baumann's message is titled “A Day Unlike Any Other” based on Matthew 25:13.

Categories: SermonsFriday, November 3, 2017
You are not alone—never have been, never will be! In His faithfulness to you, your heavenly Father has promised to never leave you nor forsake you! As you gather in His name on this All Saints’ Sunday, the triune God fills you with His presence through His Word and through the body and blood of Christ in Holy Communion. In a mysterious way, this fellowship you have with God also unites you to all believers of every time and place. That’s what you confess when you say you believe “in the communion of saints.” You are not alone! You are a member of the Body of Christ! You are part of a community that is eternally blessed by Jesus and lives to confess His name before the world!
Please join us for Sunday worship at 8:20 AM or 11:00 AM. Pastor Cory J. Rajek's message is titled “Blessed? You Bet!” based on Matthew 5:1-12.

Sunday, Oct 29, 2017 Sermon by Pastor Heimer, Mariachi San Pablo
Categories: SermonsSunday, October 29, 2017
Thank you so very much to all those who came to worship services on Sunday and to the Saturday evening concert to help us celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation this past weekend! What a wonderful weekend we had together as with voice and song and stringed instruments we praised God's great and glorious name together.
Mariachi San Pablo was an absolute delight to have among us as well! There were individuals from all over the state, the circuit, and the community that came to join us. The choir sang marvelously both in the morning and in the afternoon! The Brass group fortified our singing and added that little extra something special.
The meal yesterday provided by the Parish Fellowship Board was perfect. The special red lighting and sound equipment provided by Oahe Light and Sound added the right touch to the sanctuary and turned out great! The Mariachi's music made us want to dance!!!!
We'll look forward to the next 500th year milestone when we, or rather our great, great, great, great, greats get to celebrate the 1000th! It was truly a good weekend in the Life of God's Church in Pierre, South Dakota. A special thanks again to the many that made it go so smooth and did so much behind the scenes. May the Lord Jesus be praised!!!
